Welcome to my personal blog. I have another blog, Herbert's Place, but that one limits me to what I sometimes want to publish, because it is mainly used to promote my books. As it says in the header, I want to use this blog to write about things that have nothing to do with my books. There is no real theme here. I'll be writing about anything that causes me to either be happy or somethings that concerns me. It could be political, travel, a hobby, or anything else. So come and visit me sometimes.

Pussys-willows and a grouse


The pussy-willows are growing despite the snow.They look good on the tree and in the vase. Yesterday we had a couple of shy and illusive visitors to our bird feeder. A couple of grouse. I believe they are Sharptails, I'm not quite sure. There used to be an abundance of Sharptails, Spruce grouse, and Ruffed Grouse, but not anymore. I guess hunting pressure, foxes, coyotes and possibly loss of habitat may be reasons for their decline. I managed to snap a couple of pictures from one of them, but when I tried to get closer they ran away. They are wary birds.
